The menu under the Grid title groups the controls associated with the selection of the grid type, and the four fixed and one user variable grid scales:

The Type drop-down box contains three selections, Ground-Wall, Area, and Darksky.

The Ground-Wall grid is designed for in-ground fixtures where the fixture is placed in the ground plane and the light levels are calculated on the wall plane. It is also designed for building mount fixtures and step lights where the fixture is mounted on the wall and the light level is calculated on the ground plane.

The Area grid is designed for bollards and area lights where the fixture is mounted above the ground plane and the light levels on the ground plane is calculated. The Area grid can be used to generate templates for area fixtures and floodlights.

The Darksky grid selection allows the user to explore how the light fixture measures up to many of the requirements designed to reduce light pollution and energy consumption.

The grid scale selections allow the user to vary the size of each grid increment. The user can select a grid scale in feet (ft) or meters (m). When ft is selected the 1, 2, 5, and 10 selections are fixed and select 1ft, 2ft, 5ft, and 10ft per grid increment respectively. The U selection can be user set from 1ft to 99ft per grid increment.

When m is selected the 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 selections are fixed and select 0.5m, 1m, 2m, and 3m per grid increment respectively. The U selection can be user set from 0.3m to 30m per grid increment.

Only one grid scale selection can be active at any give time. The example below shows the output of an in-ground fixture with the grid scale of 1ft set:

When the 2ft grid scale is selected the display is changed as shown below:

When the 5ft grid scale is selected the display is changed as shown below:
