| The "Group" function in 3dOP Pro allows the user to assign fixtures to one of four groups. This function is accessed via the "G" tab that is part of the fixture tab array in the lower right corner of the display. Each group can be individually set to either "Display" or "Sync" modes as shown below. Display mode allows the user to display the output of the selected group of fixtures only. Synchronization mode allows the user to perform any of the fixture move or rotation functions on every fixture in the group simultaneously. By default each group is set to display.
Select one of the fixture tabs next to the "G" tab, 1 thru 9. Each fixture has a "Group" drop-down menu button, middle right, that allows the user to assign a group number. The screen capture below shows fixture "1" has its group number set to 1. By default it is set to 0. The "Display" radio button selection area below the "Group" drop-down button allows each fixture when it is the active fixture (the green fixture in the output display) to control what fixture output is displayed. By default "All" is selected. If "Group" is selected only fixtures assigned to the same group will be displayed. In the example below three fixtures are assigned to group one and are displayed.
The results of the synchronize mode setting is shown below. With fixture 1 selected and the "Display" mode set to "Group" and the "G" tab Group 1 set to "Sync" you can use the fixture move and rotate controls to move and or rotate every fixture in the group simultaneously. This feature allows the user to dynamically explore the effects of changing the position of multiple fixtures. In the example below, the group 1 fixtures were moved away from the wall (+Z axis) three feet and tilted 30 degrees (X axis) towards the wall.
